I loved your article about no motor zone. I am pretty laid back except when provoked too. One of the things I loved about being a fed officer…also game warden in KY…. I got to write $100 tickets for each offense an asshole does. I wrote $800 just for a group of guys that messed up my bowhunting area at first day. No one does that to me…. A long story short…you got me inspired. I spent weeks way in the back woods (I thought) for this perfect hunting area. I found huge buck sign, cleared out 2 paths for my arrow and put my stand in a week before so all the human smells would be gone. It was freezing that morning. I got to my site which took me 45 minutes. I was on fed land but close to private land which no one is allowed to be on. Sat in my stand before sun up and waited for 3 hours and heard 4-wheelers coming down the hill. Tresspassing. Laughing, talking loud and spinning up the dirt. My hunt was ruined. So I went back to my truck and saw the two guys of 4-wheelers drinking beer at 10am. I drove home soooo fast, put my uniform, gun and badge on and went back out there. I watched them for awhile by the river’s edge and one asshole thru a beer bottle in the river. I had left my gov’t ride way back up the hill so I could spy on these ‘dudes.’ They recognized me since I had tourquise rings on and long hair. “Hey, I remember you up the hill”. I wrote them for littering $100-, non registered vehicle on county roads $100, open container $100, no helmets $50 and AI $100. That was a total of $800. They just paid it and never showed for court. I never abused my athority. But I did my job and is well respected around here. The locals call me the WoodsBitch. Some don’t like a women doing that job I did, but most came to respect me as the first and only women in this area doing a hard job. I just had to share that story with you since you seem about the same nature. I also teach a full contact self defense class called Stand Up 4 YOURSELF. I can tell you more about that another time if you’re interested. PS…. good pics and story about your dog. I have Kayah that backpacks with me and also sits in my kayak. She is such a wonderful friend. I now have Kanoe in training. God Bless. Susan
